    workshop tijdens de Transformation Transportation conferentie georganiseerd door de Wereldbank en EMBARQ De workshop stond in het teken van de klimaatagenda en was een poging van internationale organisaties om Transport en klimaatverandering op de agenda te krijgen van de volgende COP conferentie in december 2009 in Kopenhagen I CE is de Nederlandse partner in een internationaal netwerk waarin wordt samengewerkt met internationale organisaties als de Wereldbank Aziatische ontwikkelingsbank ICLEI CAI LAC en CAI Asia om stedelijk transport in Azie en Latijns Amerika te programmeren De eerste bijeenkomst over een dergelijke actieplan vond plaats in Poznan tijdens de COP 14 december 2008 Het was de eerste keer dat er een substaniele vertegenwoordiging was van de transport sector op een COP conferentie Tijdens een workshop die door ICLEI werd georganiseerd benadrukten zowel Rajendra Pachauri voorzichter van het Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change en Ivo de Boer executive secretary van het IPCC de noodzaak om tranport hoger op de agenda te zetten Er is volledige consensus over de kant die verkeersplanning op zou moeten gaan Ondanks de waarde van maatregelen op het gebied van alternatieve en meer efficientere branstof blijft de belangrijkste taak het vermijden van kilometers gemotoriseerd verkeer door stadsplanning en integrale
