  • SharePoint Server MVP 2015 award - Blog - Mavention
MVP 2015 Like last year the date I received this news matched my work anniversary It is my 3th year working there and I couldn t be happier for getting the opportunity to work with such a great community I would like to thank all of my colleagues for their input Microsoft for the great technology and the community for continuously challenging me I can only say that being inspired and challenged to push the products to their boundaries and work with epic technology is one of the best feelings you can get Also as I now know what the MVP Summit is it even gets better Last year was the first time joining that part of the community and I found it very inspiring I can only hope this year will be as good as the last Meeting with so many MVP s from around the globe Especially with the changes to SharePoint and the ongoing investments in the cloud both on Azure and Office 365 it will be another inspiring year You can learn more about the MVP program on the MVP site or just shoot me a question Originally posted at http www sharepointappie nl sharepoint server

  • The Content Type Hub and Document Set Views - Blog - Mavention
content type hub So settings like the available content types or the welcome page are all propagated correctly Yet one of the questions was to set a different view in the document set than on the library itself Having worked with the document set before I just went straight into the document set settings and tried to set the default view In any given scenario you would see a dropdown that allows you to select from the available views However any content type that gets pushed by the Content Type Hub is set to read only A read only content type cannot be changed and neither can the document set So when accessing the document set content type the only option you have is to make it editable again by disabling the read only option Therefore you cannot change the welcome page view Obviously you can still set different default views by the per location view settings This allows you to set a view for a specific folder However as we do not know what Document Sets gets created you cannot use this approach to set a default view for the document set itself So if a document set is

  • Demystifying Document ID's part 2 - The Content Type Hub - Blog - Mavention
site has more then 20 document libraries You will see that this is the same behavior for SharePoint 2016 as well Content Type Hub What ended up being confusing was the Content Type Hub Working with the Content Type Hub in Office 365 helps you in centralizing your Content Types However publishing the content types from the hub poses a risk The Content Type Hub does not publish event receivers When the Document ID feature gets activated it adds an event receiver to all documents that derive from the Document content type On the content type hub this will work and you will see that the document id gets added to your newly created documents When you publish the content type it will propagate to all subsites including the document id column However when uploading new documents you will not see the Document ID show up It will take up to 24 hours before a the timerjob passes by and sets the document id for the document Actually the document id gets created and you will be able to access the document through the document id link if you know it However due to the lack of the event receivers the item itself does not get updated with the id That s why after 24 hours it does show up as there is a timerjob that cleans up and sets the id s correctly for items that are missing them It also does make sense that if you are using the Content Type hub to publish the content types activating or reactivating the document id feature does not help you in this case The document id provider does not update read only content types and any content type pushed from the Content Type Hub is read only Long story short

  • Yammer Embed Single Sign On - Blog - Mavention
enables SSO header true footer true showOpenGraphPreview false defaultGroupId 3257958 specify default group id to post to Combining both samples with the notion that we didn t want the network permalink attached we ended up with the following snippet script type text javascript src https c64 assets yammer com assets platform embed js script div id embedded feed style height 400px width 500px div script yam connect embedFeed container embedded feed feedType open graph feedId config use sso true objectProperties url http www opengraphpage com type page script The confusing thing is that this will work for Yammer accounts that are created in Office 365 so no ADFS SSO accounts Users get prompted to log in and provide their credentials If they have done that they are redirected to the correct yammer network and everything runs smooth However if you have SSO enabled and your accounts are synced using ADFS you will end up with an infinite loop You can click the log in button but when you log in you will end up getting the log in window again As it turns out the network property is required when trying to enable SSO So while documentation does not point out that it is you will see that once you provided the network property everything runs smooth and SSO actually works For provider hosted add ins working with Yammer embed that means that you as a developer are responsible You will have to have logic in place that allows your users to provide their Yammer network permalink In our case we came up with an interface allowing the user to store their Yammer network permalink to local storage Local storage is preferred over cookies as it cannot be read by the server Local storage thus means that your add in
